    New York Lincoln Center Program,
    Musical: The Last Empress
    , Arts Communications, Seoul, South Korea, 8 ¼ by 11 ¾ inches, paperback, 48 pages, written in Korean and English, signed by 40 cast members (many with lengthy inscriptions in Korean) including the seven featured stars (Won Jung Kim, Tae Won Yi Kim, Sung Hoon Lee, Hee Sung Yu, Min Soo Kim, Sung Ki Kim, and Hee Jung Lee), July-August 1998, in very good condition (the pages have partially separated from the spine after the cast opened the book flat to sign their pictures).  The program is also signed on the front cover by Janice Choi, probably the person who got the autographs and who may have been an extra in the performance.   The New York performance was the first outside Korea.  Signed programs like this are extremely scarce.
    The Last Empress

    ) is a musical about
    Empress Myeongseong
    of
    Korea.  It debuted in 1995 as
    South Korea's first original musical, and was continuing its run in
    Seoul
    as of February 2007. It is based on a historical novel written by the well-known South Korean author
    Yi Mun Yol, composed by Kim Hee Gap, with lyrics by Yang In Ja (translated by Georgina St George), and directed by
    Yun Ho-Jin. The 2
    1/2
    -hour musical is produced by
    Seoul-based
    Arts Communication
    (A-Com).
    The original production at the
    Seoul Performing Arts Center
    was expected to reach one million ticket sales by March 2007.
    It played at the
    New York State Theater,
    Lincoln Center, in 1997 and 1998, to favorable reviews. It also played in
    London's
    West End
    in 2002, the
    Kodak Theater
    in Los Angeles
    in 2003,
    and at Toronto's
    Hummingbird Centre
    in 2004.
